I'm a bit confused with regards to licensing WebObjects; if I'm a developer that writes a WebObjects application, what is required to distibute my app, and what - if any - license fees are involved?

I looked at the Apple web site, but for 5.4 it stated to look into the XCode installer, were I couldn't locate a WebObjects license. For 5.2 it seems there is a cost of $699 per deployment.

In non-legalese it means you are only allowed to develop on a Mac but you can deploy your app on any system you want. Everything but Mac OS X Server is an unsupported deployment platform. It will probably work just fine though.

At least that is what I always understood from discussion about it.

And to clarify a bit more: it is free, as in free lunch. There is no charge to deploy. You can even bundle WO with your app provided that the bundled version is only used for running that application (e.g. no distribution for development).
