Hello Bob,
Hello,
I have been reading about WebObjects, and decided it was worth
looking into further.
Where to begin?
http://www.wocommunity.org/getting_started_with_webobjects.html
What would be the best book for a novice (does know Java)?
You need Java knowledge, but you don't need J2EE knowledge. So you
need to understand of foundation classes of Java. Thinking in Java is
a good book if you know other object oriented language but don't have
any Java experience.
As for WO books, sadly they are old except for Pratical WebObjects.
Pratical WebObjects is not a beginner book, but it can you help in
doing things the right way. I suggest that you start by reading
Apple's documentation, that you view the podcasts and after you can
play with the examples distributed with WebObjects.
Are new projects being done with WebObjects (is there a future)?
You can look at the 2007 survey results :
http://www.wocommunity.org/blog/2007/08/04/community-survey-results/
Most people were happy at that time, and the outlook is even better
for the future.
