Hello everybody,
today I tempted fate and installed WO 5.4 on an Windows system
(based on an MacBook) for development parallel to an existing 5.2
installation.
After trying the tutorial for parallel handling from the wiki
without any success I simply copied the new Framework directories
into the old location. Not very elegant but seems to work: I could
compile in Eclipse (3.5, WOLips 3.4.5872).
But I did not succeed in making an ant build. I always get the
message "There is not root named "C:/Apple" in [[Root: name=
Project...." when coming to the compile target. Alas I haven't the
faintest idea what is meant by that. Could somebody help me,
please?? Is the problem related to the new framework/classpath
handling I hadn't understand either?
By the way, the licence terms of the 5.4 version leave some points
unclear, especially section 4 about termination. I tried to get
information from Apple, but at least at the german telephone sites
there was no much help. Does anybody knows an email contact at apple
for official information ("email@hidden" did come back)?
Waiting for any insight,
Susanne

I have not worked with the Windows stuff for a long time, but I am
working with the ant build for Project Wonder right now. Are you
trying to create a regular WebObjects app, or one of the other app
types?
When you say "the tutorial for parallel handling from the wiki", what
page are you referring to? What URL?
What does your WO installations look like?
FYI, calling Apple makes no sense. The eclipse development environment
is an open-source project and not something from Apple. Are you
sending to the right mailing list? The email@hidden
list is the mailing list for the WOLips development environment. Note
that that list is not hosted by Apple. The WebObjects-dev list is
probably better used for questions about just the WebObjects
frameworks themselves.
If you can provide more information, I or others may be able to assist.
cheers - ray
