Irish Risings are dubious affairs.  The overall record is 1-gazzilion and even the single win was only 26/32 successful.  I'm sure Kieran simply weighed the odds and found them wanting.

I agree with the comments expressed by others.  If you have any way of redoing your export using 'write all output...' you can avoid all version and endian issues associated with the binary backup.
