We’re have the postgres logging on for long running queries… nothing takes more than a few seconds.

Michael,
Did my suggestion about the statement_timeout help at all? If you have queries that run for a long time, the statement will time out and Postgres will close the connection. There are both statement and connection timeout parameters in
the PG conf file.
