A guess that would fit the result better than any I know would have been SimDBM written for the Dec-10 in Simula 67 around the year 1974 at the Swedish National Defense Institute, we used it at the Univ. of Washington medical research center.

It's why I saw the "Wonderfulness" of WO in the first two hours I saw it in 2000 or thereabouts, ( with Gary Teter ).

And I agree, Java sucks, and I say that after beginning its proselytizing at the very, very beginning of its inception.
