you dont need to startx, all you have to do is run the app you want...
i.e. xeyes, xclock, etc?
if you're looking to do something like see what you would see if you
were sitting at the redhat machine, you would need something like
vnc.....

I got this far and the ssh -X username@redhatbox_ip has me in a
terminal session on the Rh machine
Now how do I do the equivalent of a startx (when local on the redhat)
and have the desktop display on my OSX/X11
What ports do I need to have open in our firewall?
