I've noticed this behaviour as well, but I can't make it happen on
demand. Just occasionally, X11 gets completely confused about what's
going on with the mouse, and it does seem to be related to extended
desktop geometries.
I don't know whether it's X11.app or quartz-wm which has actually got
confused thouugh.
