My first post and I can9t report all the success to date, getting the
current fink running on X11, Gimp, XMMS, Mozilla, all working fine.
System: 10.2.5, current fink, current beta 3 X11, tibookdvi.
I didn9t have the menu bar hiding problem until I did some clean up and
deleted my previous 2 installs of X11 that were archived, and tried to
install blackbox. I changed my xinitrc and put blackbox on the last line
after
exec quartz-wm. This didn9t seem to do anything when I relaunced X11, so I
took it out and since then all the xterm windows have launched under the
menubar, or should I say they have launched without the white menubar (is
that the quartz -wm not working?)
My current xinitrc looks like this:
#!/bin/sh
# $Id: xinitrc,v 1.2 2003/02/27 19:03:30 jharper Exp $
userresources=$HOME/.Xresources
usermodmap=$HOME/.Xmodmap
sysresources=/etc/X11/xinit/.Xresources
sysmodmap=/etc/X11/xinit/.Xmodmap
# merge in defaults and keymaps
if [ -f $sysresources ]; then
xrdb -merge $sysresources
fi
if [ -f $sysmodmap ]; then
xmodmap $sysmodmap
fi
if [ -f $userresources ]; then
xrdb -merge $userresources
fi
if [ -f $usermodmap ]; then
xmodmap $usermodmap
fi
# start some nice programs
xterm -geometry 80x24+50+60 &
# start the window manager
exec quartz-wm
The geometry function suggestion per the faq9s on this list and on OSX hints
fornums doesn9t seem to be doing anything .
Did I break the quartz wm somehow?
