installing apple's X11

hi,
I have a powerbook running 10.2.3 and I want to replace the xdarwin x11 with
the apple version. Do I need to uninstall the previous X11 install, or will
the apple installer write over and replace everything that matters?

Secondly has anyone tried to run matlab using apple's X11 in place of the
Xdarwin one?
