Okay, based on various responses, both personal and public, it sounds like
the point of X11.app is somewhat different than I was assuming, and I might

a few reservations about that.

The view I expressed is strictly based on my observations. I haven't had any contact with Apple people outside of this forum. I do believe that Apple wants to please us as well as the non-X11 literate. I just think that, since we already have choices and there are fewer of us, they will first try to provide for the others. They can most quickly and easily provide for our needs by providing source code to integrate into other X servers and window managers.

Besides, even without running quartz-wm, (or X11.app, for that matter,) we can still run an X11 environment to our liking. All we sacrifice is some consistency with native OS X apps. However, we can still run the OS X apps that we choose.

Keep in mind that X11.app/quartz-wm is still in beta. They will probably fix some of the bugs and add some features before it is released. There are leikely to be more releases with more features added later.

Sorry to have been a bother.

I haven't seen you being a bother. This has been a valuable discussion. Besides, even if we are a minority, at least we can be a vocal one. <grin>
