Isn't this already a FAQ?
If Apple's X11 does not find a .xinitrc file in your home directory, it
launches quartz-wm and a single xterm. There is no global xinitrc file
that it defaults to. There is an example file in /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc.
Be sure to replace "twm" with "quartz-wm".
