The issue: I am trying to modify x11 so that it will NOT launch a
terminal on startup. (I definitely want xterm to stay in the
applications menu, though.) I am having trouble locating where this
might be changed. I've gathered from other posts on this list that my
answer may be in the .xinitrc file, but am having trouble finding even
that. (This is a fresh install of X11 (no previous XDarwin) over
10.2.3.)
Why I care: I have modified the start openoffice.org script to launch
X11 instead of Darwin (works like a charm), but I would rather not have
the terminal appear when x11 opens; the aqua like windows are friendly
enough that I am considering suggesting openoffice as an inexpensive
alternative to MS Office for my OSX end users.
Thanks in advance.
