If you install X11 extensions (check the MAC web site) there is a Window/manager X11 application which lets you restart whatever session and windows manager you want if its installed.

For example I have gnome and I use Sawfish windows manager. When I exit the session all my x windows loose the Sawfish window surrounds. From the drop down box you can select X11 then click on apple widows manager and start. This start X and quartz-wm and your borders return. Cool.

I also have KDE and Enlightenment.

When I first tried X11 beta just after release I did not have this problem. Just the other day when I was refreshing a Jaguar installation on my desktop, I started OpenOffice in X11 and it did not have any Aqua window borders or header bar. I cannot re-size or move my windows and therefore making X11 useless. Help. I don't want to go back to XDarwin.

Is there a workaround?

When I first started X11 I didn't have any borders. Do you have anything in ~/.xinitrc? Mine was left over from using XDarwin/OroborOSX and it prevented the Aqua interface from showing up.

I think if you remove that file, X11 will give you back the default behavior. My current .xinitrc file contains some initialization and then a "quartz-wm &".

I found this directory ~/.xinitrc and removed it and it worked. I am still a Unix newbie and had trouble finding the directory (Is -l would not show it).

Thanks for your help guy's.
