2003-02-07: DO NOT INSTALL VIREX 7.2-
The Virex 7.2 package, currently being distributed free to all .Mac
members, has a serious conflict with Fink. Fink users should not
install Virex 7.2 under any circumstances. Installing it after Fink
is installed will damage your Fink installation; installing it prior
to Fink will make it impossible to install Fink without damaging
Virex.
This bug has been reported to Virex's manufacturer. We will keep the
Fink community informed about the situation as it develops.

Mine are running together. Can you point to where you saw this post
about FINK and Virex being incompatible.

Somewhat off-topic:
I installed Fink, then updated Virex.
Two days later, I read on MacNewsNet that installing the Virex update
has destroyed the Fink installation, and that there is no way to have
both.
Does the newest X11 update offer any solution or fix?
Uh...no. The X11 update has nothing to do with fink or Virex.
How do I safely disable Fink, or do I need to bother?
Any other suggestion?
Don't install Virex.
Quick way out: Remove Virex. Remove the entire /sw directory. Reinstall
fink. Don't install Virex.
