Hmm ... when I start it up, it tels me that Terminal type is set

as you see, mine does not do that. The remote gnuplot at the lab does
that; it's what I was expecting.
Are you using Apple X11 or XDarwin X11??
I'm using Apple's X11, not XDarwin. How did you install your gnuplot?
Did you use fink, or did you do it manually?
I really don't know whats wrong. Sorry.
No problem, ideas are good! :) I'll cc where we've got to so far to
the list; maybe someone else has an idea.
Thanks!

Ok, so this may be a stupid question. Are you running this
from an xterm or a terminal window. From within an xterm I have
no problem. From within a terminal window, I can't and I get the
same problem you do.
nope. from an xterm window:
Terminal type set to 'unknown'
gnuplot> set term x11
Terminal type set to 'x11'
Options are '0, driver "gnuplot_x11"'
gnuplot> plot sin(x)
gnuplot> exec failed (X11 driver): No such file or directory
same thing. I _was running it from a terminal window, but I have
terminal configured to interact properly with x11. well, make that
"properly". :)
