xmodmap -pke works fine... I put the corrected mappings in keymap-fix.txt

But here I needed just

xmodmap keymap-fix.txt

without the redirect.  Then it worked.

Comparing the output of xmodmap -pke between X11 and XDarwin is
interesting.  XDarwin also claims to use the Apple keymappings, and looks
like it is much closer to what is really in the UK keymapping file. There
are 30 differences between them, but only the dead keys really show up in
normal use.
