Okay Ill try one more time here since my last post seems to have gone completely unnoticed...
Im running into problems compiling things here and there, where the scripts cant seem to find things like the libtool, gettext, glib2 and gtk+2..
I know these are all installed. Ive used the packages from OpenDarwin, and all of the files are definatly installed.
I dont have a fink installation on the Powerbook at the moment (wanted to try it without the /sw troubles), and I cant think of how in the heck to point either ./configure or ./autogen.sh scripts towards my libraries, which reside in /usr/local/include and /usr/local/bin!
I did have to run a patch on the Gaim CVS ./autogen.sh so it would use Mac OS X's glibtool instead of regular libtool, and this got me past that error..
But still I am constantly running into either pkgconfig not up to date (just installed 0.15 from DarwinPorts), or it cant find either Glib2.0 or gtk+2.0 (right now I cant it past the Glib check, sometimes I can, but then it wont find gtk+2 which is in the same directory as Glib!!).
The error about needing gettext installed, comes up when I try to compile through the regular Mac OS X terminal. If I do it under X11 and xterm it finds it okay (im thinking something to do with my .xinitrc path vs. my environment.plist path which however should be exactly the same)..
I did add the lines from the Fink homepage to my .cshrc to point it to /sw/include and /sw/lib, on my G4 800, and this allowed me to actually get through the autogen script for Gaim..
Wont 'make' however and Im at work with just the Powerbook so I cant get the exact error now I get on the quicksilver..
If I can get my Powerbook through finding GLib and Gtk+ maybe I can get past the 'make' errors I get heh.
So anybody got any ideas, or perhaps simply a website I can go read for more tips on compiling?
