I've never had trouble with my X window manager disappearing. I just
noticed that I can't start a new "xterm" after changing my IP address,
but my existing X11 windows are working fine.
I had both of the Security preferences items checked when I started X11,
so my options say this:
"no_auth" = 0;
"nolisten_tcp" = 0;
Cheers,

The problem I have been seeing appears to be limited to 0.2.x
It is also directly tied to the window manager, not to the other parts of
the X system.
The problem is that when my IP address changes, the window manager appears
to exit. The title bar disappears, and all the X-supplied widgets are gone.
I do not use X to attach to any other X servers, but the authentication
mechanism appears to have problems with mobile machines. I have a valid
FDQN as the machine name, and it is in all cases showing up in /etc/hosts
and netinfo. I have tried the three possible settings of the two buttons in
the security TAB of preferences (On/Off,On/On,Off/Off). Ocassionally I can
get through two changes with the problem. For example, yesterday morning I
brought the PB to work and the switch over did not shut down the window
manager. Last night I was also able to switch at home without losing access
to my programs. But this morning back at work, the window manager exited as
soon as I changed location. In this case the setting was first button
Authenticate connections ON and second button Allow Connections from
Network Clients OFF.
The command 'defaults read com.apple.x11' shows the following pertinent
variables:
"no_auth" = 1;
"no_listen_tcp" = 1;
"nolisten_tcp" = 1;
Is there anyone else on this list who uses a mobile computer with X11 0.2.1,
a home and work network (different IP addresses), no connections to other X
Servers, and who has a setup that does not have this problem? If so, could
you tell me what your values are that are different from mine above?
