You tried to launch xterm from within Terminal.app. That doesn't work. Mac
OSX's Cocoa and Carbon apps are unaware of X11.
You must launch the X11 application first. It will give you an xterm to
start with. Or you can choose "Terminal" from the X11 Applications menu to
start a new xterm.

Why does it give me this error?
Also, what would a .xinitrc look like? I don't have one in my home
dir and want to set up one so I can customize my xterm sessions.
