Multiple monitors

I understand there is already an FAQ but I think I haven't been around long enough to see it.

I have monitors right, left, and above my main screen and X-11 doesn't seem to believe it. It creates a default window which starts at the upper left of the center monitor and runs below the lower right of the right monitor in such a way that I cannot access the grow box - er - point. In archival OS terms it seems to want to occupy all positive coordinate space in gWorld.

But it's worse. I can't get to the grow box by dragging the window upward because something won't allow a drag though the menu bar to the upper monitor. Choosing Window-menu zoom the window jumps over to the left monitor - negative coordinates. I can then make it very small so that it can be dragged around where I want it. I can then resize it so there is a workaround but it has to be done each time X-11 gets used.

Are there some defaults I can set in an initialization file somewhere? I'm working my way through man ssh, but there seems not to be a man X-11.
