Similarly, if you enable UTF-8 for the xterm ("XTerm*utf8: 1" in my
.Xdefaults) you get bus errors in some cases, even when not displaying
UTF-8 encoded text. UTF-8 encoded text does display nicely in other
cases though: I haven't isolated all the failures yet.

Or a US guy who works in other languages on a regular basis can run
into problems.
