Everyone uses their own definition of beta. The definitions I most commonly encounter is that an "alpha" release is an internal release, and a "beta" is released to users outside of one's organization. There's no government mandated definition of "beta" that requires the software to be feature complete. Most beta software I try certainly isn't.

I guess you can call it whatevery you want, but consider this: Send Apple feedback if you really want to see it fixed. If Apple releases a "final" of X11 and it still has this problem, then I'd say you'd have a serious gripe -- but why wait?
