the xterm is really not very useful.
1) macintosh copy & paste doesnt work (standard terminal is much better
in this respect) so if you are used to use cmd-c / cmd-v be happy that
you can now retype everything manualy now :-(.
Copy and paste in xterm work in exactly the way they are supposed to
do in X apps, and text copied in an xterm window can be pasted
in native apps with cmd-v (see the FAQ for more details).
2) trying to set the keyboard (which is US by default, even macOS X is
set to swiss german) results in a bus error:
bash-2.05a$ setxkbmap -layout ch_DE
Couldn't interpret _XKB_RULES_NAMES property
Use defaults: rules - 'xfree86' model - 'pc101' layout - 'us'
Bus error
bash-2.05a$
True, but the FAQ mentions an easy workaround that works
with most international keyboards. It is also possible to solve
this problem by writing an appropriate .xmodmap file and
adding "xmodmap ~/.xmodmap" in your .xinitrc file
(see numerous posts in this list; I'm using a Spanish .xmodmap myself).
So basically no non-US guy can use this software.
Not really Apple like. What's wrong here?
I for one have a Spanish ISO keyboard, and I'm using it with xterm
without
any problems whatsoever. IMHO, X11 has glitches, but it's far from
unusable, even for
users with international keyboards.
