You should use 'ssh -X ...' to enable tunnelling of X.  This has to be
enabled on the server as well (see the sshd configuration file).

If you have a functioning tunnel the DISPLAY variable will already be
set correctly on the remote host - you don't need to do it yourself.
It's usually "localhost:11.0" or something similar.
