Friends,
Control-H has always meant Help in Emacs.
Similarly, Control-S means search and
Control-Q means Quote-Next. (These latter
make the XON-XOFF protocol even worse than
it was already, for old systems that use it.)
All Emacs keys can be remapped, that's part of
its beauty. However, in this case, try typing
the DELETE key instead of backspace (Control-H).
Holding down Control while hitting the key will
typically reverse its meaning.
My Mac keyboard does not have a BACKSPACE key
on it at all, but I'm in the U.S.
Good luck! Mark
ps. I prefer Option for Meta, rather than command.
