Do you have a crash log when it dies? Do you have crash catcher
enabled in /Applications/Console.app (check preferences)?

Of course, I can launch X11 again after it dies
but I shouldn't have to lose it every time I launch a new app.
Does anybody else experience this?
It didn't happen when I was using XFree86.
