X11 Dies When I Launch New Apps

I've been trying to track down why this happens
but as far as I can tell
Launching New Apps Kills X11.

Sometimes I can prevent X11's death
by juggling focus around during the new app's launch
so it launches into the background instead of making a new foreground window.

Of course, I can launch X11 again after it dies
but I shouldn't have to lose it every time I launch a new app.

Does anybody else experience this? It didn't happen when I was using XFree86.

lenny bruce I am not a comedian,
email@hidden I am Lenny Bruce.
