Hmm. (gears turning and smoke emerging from my ears) So this would

There is no binary version of the top of the XFree86 CVS tree
available from the XFree86 project. A new version from current
sources will be available when XFree86 4.3.0 is released. To try the
top of the tree you can build for yourself using the instructions at
<http://mrcla.com/XonX/build.html> or use fink to install the latest
unstable snapshot. Fink periodically updates its snapshot in the
unstable tree and stays fairly current.
Anyway, it looks like XDarwin.org's version now costs money, but I
know I didn't pay anything for the version I got a year ago...
XDarwin is freely available and open source. XDarwin.Org is not
affiliated with the XFree86 or XonX projects. They package and
distribute XDarwin as a service for a fee. Whether or not this
service is worth paying the fee is up to you.
