machine crash

  • Subject: machine crash

Last night I had a screen flash, then blank, then blue, then back to normal. A few minutes later the machine crashed with no further warning: just suddenly the screen dimmed except for a rectangle saying I had to restart my machine now.

X11-apple was running. In the past I've had screen flashes like that with XDarwin, always followed by an XDarwin crash. This time there was no X11 crash. I'm wondering if instead the tight integration with the OS brought the machine down.

But unless other people on the list have had such a problem while running X11-apple, it could have been anything. (I was trying unsuccessfully to map samba drives at the time.)

iBook2 (600Mhz, 640Mb RAM)
