Hi!
If you cannot configure a button 3 than you can use a simple workaround: You can probably assign the wheel button to option/alt-click. X11 will then use the emulation that also works for all users with stock Apple mice. You have to enable "Emulate three button mouse" in Preferences though, but at least you can paste without using shareware.

It might also work to uninstall the Microsoft panel to receive the default action that might just be "button 3" - but don't blame me it your mouse doesn't work at all afterwards ;-)

Good Luck,
	ralf

Thanks for this tip. The M$ configuration panel defaults the wheel
button to Autoscroll. It can be changed to many things (double-click,
triple-click, secondary click, etc.) but not to "button 3".
