I just noticed a curious thing: I had Gimp running in X11 and I opened
a file in TeXShop, a regular OSX app. Much to my surpise I noticed that
the "floating labels" (sorry, I don't know what the correct term is, I
mean the labels that appear when you mouse over an icon or button and
that tell what action the icon/button represents) asociated with
elements in Gimp's palettes occur when I mouse over a piece of text in
the TeXShop window. Same thing with an open Save dialog. Whenever the
mouse is at the spot where there is an "underlying" icon/button in the
Gimp palette *and* there is something there (text, a button) in the
upper layer belonging to the other application, these "floating labels"
appear. It's not limited to TeXShop, the same happens in Mail.
(Actually, as I type this I have one of the Gimp labels right in this
message window.) Anyone else notice this?
