How exactly would I go about uninstalling the xfree86 that's installed
by Fink?
I tried doing the dpkg command in fink like the website told me, but
that didn't work and said that none of them were installed.
I know XDarwin is installed somewhere though, because if I type "startx"
into the terminal, it proceeds to launch XDarwin with XDarwin's default
window manager.
First look what Fink xfree86 packages are installed:
fink list -ti xfree86
Then, if there are any, remove them as indicated on the Fink web site.
If there aren't, or only system-xfree86, then you must have installed
XDarwin from some other source. In this case, just remove the files:
sudo rm -rf /etc/X11/ /usr/X11R6/
or maybe you don't even need to do this, the Apple X11 installer will
erase what is necessary. Then install Apple's X11 packages (*both* of
them), fink install system-xfree86, and you are all set.
