I click on the icon, X11 starts up and opens a shell with bash! And the
emacs I installed with fink works too!! Even the backspace key! Yay!
Thanks to everyone for the help.
Here's what I'm doing:
I changed my shell in netinfomanager to bash. Terminal recognized it
immediately, but xterm didn't. But when I rebooted, it did. No plist or
anything.
Now that it's coming up with bash, fink's init.csh bombs. So use
init.sh instead. The right emacs starts now.
I am already using xmodmap because I remap everything to dvorak. I'm
not doing anything special there, just using Dylan McNamee's "Almost
ANSI" configuration. The only thing concerning backspace or delete is
"keycode 83 = BackSpace".
The only problem I'm having is that my config that is supposed to
change everything back to normal mangles it instead. I need to fix
that, but it's not as urgent because I only need it if someone else
wants to type in my xterms.
Andrea
