Some of this could depend on the version of XEmacs. Also, the version that
supports international fonts only supports a subset of those fonts. If you
request a font with an encoding not in that subset, then you will get an
equivalent, but XEmacs appears to draw it as though it had the originally
requested values.
I think asking the question on email@hidden might lead to a reply.
That's where I discovered I was pretty much limited to iso-8859.
