Try renaming /usr/local and see if it works.
If I try this, merely launching xemacs generates the error messages.
Does that mean it's using items in /usr/local that it shouldn't be?
If the behavior of xemacs really is different when /usr/local is out of
the way, my logic tells me that your /usr/local contains something that
changes xemacs' behavior. But only you can know what your /usr/local is
containing.
In the past, I have tried moving /usr/local aside and rebuilding xemacs
(via fink). I also tried moving /usr/X11R6 aside, installing a fresh
copy of Apple's X11, and rebuilding xemacs. These things didn't help.
After all what you were telling, I am starting to believe that you must
have some other stuff running on your computer that interferes with
xemacs. You don't use any cute little shareware that changes the look of
your icons? Or something that lets you connect 5 displays to your G4? Or
a screensaver that runs all the time in the background?
The problem is that no one else has seen this bug, and nobody seems to
have a useful guess as to where it can come from. So the only thing we
can try to advise you is to find out what is different on your machine
than on others.
Apart from a hardware bug or some "haxie" or other program interfering
with the workings of graphics applications I hinted to above, my best
bet is still something in your X11 setup. You said repeatedly that you
reinstalled Apple's X11, and then xemacs did not work with it, but it
worked with OroborOSX. This seems to imply that you have some
configuration where OroborOSX works together with Apple's X11. This is
unusual, it doesn't for me.
