I have again moved /usr/local and /usr/X11R6 aside, replacing the
latter by a fresh copy of Apple X11 Beta 3 + SDK. I have again done
"fink update-all" and "fink rebuild xemacs", but the bug remains.
If the behavior of xemacs really is different when /usr/local is out
of the way, my logic tells me that your /usr/local contains something
that changes xemacs' behavior. But only you can know what your
/usr/local is containing.
It no longer exists.
After all what you were telling, I am starting to believe that you
must have some other stuff running on your computer that interferes
with xemacs.
The only haxie is Silk 1.1. No extra monitors. I get the bug even if
I create a fresh username, so my Login Items can't be the cause either.
The problem is that no one else has seen this bug, and nobody seems to
have a useful guess as to where it can come from.
I have received messages from one or two other people who have the same
bug and others who have some sort of unspecified problem.
So the only thing we can try to advise you is to find out what is
different on your machine than on others.
Apart from a hardware bug
Impossible, as my iMac and iBook exhibit the same problem.
or some "haxie" or other program interfering with the workings of
graphics applications I hinted to above, my best bet is still
something in your X11 setup. You said repeatedly that you reinstalled
Apple's X11, and then xemacs did not work with it, but it worked with
OroborOSX. This seems to imply that you have some configuration where
OroborOSX works together with Apple's X11.
It used to work fine. But just now, after my reinstalling Apple's X11,
OroborOSX won't launch any more. Bother.
