A colleague has just noticed that when working on Matlab
which is running on a remote Solaris machine the caret symbol
^ is not recognised. So you try and type `x squared' as `x^2' and
get
`x2'. Not good!
Does anyone know if this is x11 or matlab? Other applications don't
have
this problem such as xmaple.
Has your colleague tried hitting caret twice?
Thanks - thats an interesting idea but I just tried it and it
didn't help. Every other thing along the top of the keyboard works
except ~ and ` .
I wonder if this is mixed up with your problem. Somethings are going
past
Matlab.
By the way for me CTRL-C seems to just act as a return and makes Matlab
bring up a new prompt.
FWIW, I believe on Mac OS 9, the ENTER key (not RETURN) generated ^C.
Perhaps that's related to what you are seeing.

Justin
