Sounds like you're talking about launching Mac apps from the terminal,
not x11 ones, so this is a bit off-topic. Nevertheless, for your
example, do
cd Applications
open Preview.app
The 'open' is what you were missing.

Hi all:
This may be silly
I am trying to launch applications using the Terminal application
Terminal.
My path includes a direction to the directory "Applications"
For example, the application Preview.app
it comes out
Applications/Preview.app: Permission denied.
I am not an expert. What do I need to do?
