Jost a note to let you all know that I no longer seem
to have this problem. Thanks to Haroon Sheikh, who
asked if I had any "haxies" installed on my system,
I wondered if Unsanity's WindowShade X may be the
culprit. So I downloaded the newest version (2.1.2)
and haven't had the problem since! (I'm not keen
one bit on the idea of giving up window shading.)

A 100% fresh install of X11 0.2.1 on my Mac OS 10.2.4
iBook *still* leaves me with an unusable Apple X11.
Even with the default xinitrc file, typing in any
xterm window CEASES TO WORK within one minute of
typing in it!!!! ONLY IF I MOVE THE WINDOW can I
continue to type, until it soon happens again!!
What did the 10.2.4 installation do to my machine
to cause this problem???? Anyone?

---- Original (Feb. 28) Message Below ----
I have been using the Apple X11 beta version 0.2 quite
successfully on (I think) Mac OS 10.2.3, with twm as the
window manager. Last night, I updated to Mac OS 10.2.4.
Now X11 is virtually unusable.
The X11 apps I use the most, by far, are xterm and the
vncviewer app from the Fink distribution.
When I open a new xterm, and start typing, it works for
a few seconds, and then all of a sudden stops working.
If I move the window, typing starts working again, but
only for a few seconds, until I move the window again.
Same problem when typing in xterm windows running on
a Solaris 8 machine, which I access with Fink vncviewer.
I have to move the Solaris xterm window running within the
Fink vncviewer, every few seconds, otherwise typing in that
window stops working.
All this was working fine until I updated to Mac OS 10.2.4.
I have now moved /etc/X11 to /etc/X11-Apple, and moved
/usr/X11R6 to /usr/X11R6-Apple, and am now using an
XDarwin installation very successfully for both xterm
and Fink vncviewer.
So something seems amiss between Apple X11 0.2 beta and
Mac OS 10.2.4.
