I've moved the /sw directory to another Mac just with GNU tar. There
shouldn't be anything in there that has extended attributes. You will
want to make sure that the permissions get set correctly.
After I install, I just ask fink to reinstall system-xfree86, and I
haven't had any problems.
I've also upgraded to the latest X11 beta, and haven't had any problems.
But, I haven't tried compiling that much that uses X.
