Bonjour ` tous,
I've switched from Xdarvin to Apple/X11 at home, and I'm very
glad of it (fast, cut and paste works better).
But I've not yet switched from Xdarwin for the following cause:
- at work, I heavely depend on my unix environnement, and I have
numerous windows opened at the same time (using virtual screen
and fvwm2 window manager)
- at work I heavely customised root and window menu and
keybinding.
So I use the rooted mode of Xdarwin at work, and I cannot (yet)
switch to Apple/X11
I think the following features should be included in the Apple/X11
user environnement :
1 - a rooted mode to help switch from Any full unix environnement
(intel linux plateform) to macOSX,
This mode should be easy to install, either from the GUI preference
or from some "defaults xxx" command line.
2 - a mean to full customise the Apple/X11 menu by adding :
any hierarchical application menu/sub menu
3 - a mean to define several (virtual) set of windows one could
choose from the menu or key binding.
This would serve as "virtual screens".
4 - a mean to add any key binding from Apple/X11 to either
the current Window manager or (if possible) to the current
X11 application.
So that the user could add its prefered cut and paste key binding for its
prefered X11 application.
These customisation feature should (at least) be available from
a textual file, and replace some equivalents of these ".fvwrc" files
or these "~/.youPreferedHeavyWM/.." trees, by a simplest
.sh unix file which could contains some "apple_x11 xxx yyy" unix
commands (or perhaps directly some "defaults x11 xxx yyy" unix commands
This was just my point of vue.
