Hi,
is there anybody who can explain how keymapping works? I'm using Mac OS
10.2.4 and X11 beta3 on a G4 Powerbook with a German keyboard.
1) My first problem is that the Mac application "Terminal" seems to use
different keymappings. When comparing TextEdit with Terminal, the
difference is obvious. One should assume that both applications are using
the same keymapping as selected by the perferred language, which is in my
case Deutsch.keymapping.
2) When opening an X11 window, the keymapping is again different from the
one used by Terminal. But X11 is not behaving as if I would use an english
keyboard; this has changed with the latest update. I even used the command
"defaults write com.apple.x11 keymap_file Deutsch.keymapping" as it was
described in the FAQ. This changed my keyboard a little bit, but in the
wrong direction. As an example, now @ is not anylonger "alt L" as it was
before, but now it is "shift alt 1".
Somehow all this doesn't make too much sence, at least to me.
Thanks for your help, Achim
