Ok, this is probably a basic question, so if someone could kindly point
me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.
I have d/l'd and installed the latest release of Apple's X11, and the
SDK for it so that I could build from source if needed, and installed
emacs 21.something using FinkCommander.
How do I fire up the gui version of emacs? emacs from the CLI just runs
it in the terminal screen, not an entirely bad thing, but since I'm
trying to do this in X11, obviously, I'm trying for the graphic version.
Did you follow the Fink instructions of inserting "source
/sw/bin/init.csh" into your shell startup script? Check it by typing
"printenv PATH". You should see /sw/bin inside the path list printed.
The emacs you see in the Terminal window is probably the one that comes
with Max OSX as /usr/bin/emacs. Type "where emacs".
