I've just moved from an intel box running FreeBSD 5.0 to a powerbook running
OS X 10.2.6 with Apple's beta 3 X release. I've been trying to get some of my
favorite X11 things working like focus follows mouse. I'm running fvwm2
(installed via fink) as my window manager, but with quartz-wm in only-proxy
mode so I can do cut and paste. Fvwm2 allows me to have focus follows mouse
between X windows just fine, but when focus is on an aqua window, it refuses
to leave unless I click to focus on the X window.
I've added wm_ffm to my com.apple.x11.plist, and this seems to have the effect
that the X winods seem to _think_ they have focus (the title bar changes
color), but the aqua window is still focused, and any key presses go to the
aqua window.
I thought maybe VirtualDesktop might allow the focus to shift from aqua to X
windows, but that only allows me to switch between multiple aqua windows.
Once again, the X windows never gain focus.
Also, X windows can never be raised over aqua windows, even if they are
focused (clicked on). I've tried using the xterm window menu to explicity
raise it, but with no luck.
So, does anyone have this working?
