Default font for what? There is no "default font" for X11 as a whole. Each
application has its own concept of what it considers to be the default font.
X11 provides services for loading, scalaing, drawing, etc. requested fonts.
However, it doesn't do the higher-level work of managing font preferences.
For that, you're going to have to only use apps written in GTK, Motif, and
other higher-level toolkits.
