Hi, Markian,
I didn't see what the original question was, but it sounds like you
want the color ls program available here:
http://www.osxgnu.org/software/Fileutils/lsc/
First you might check if you already have /usr/bin/lsc - if so,
you could alias ls to that command (it's the color ls). If not,
then the above package installs this for you; it works great
for me.

while this is technically correct, I've never been able to make it
work. but, if I ssh to linux machines, the colours show up fine!
