this evening i quit x11(panther), and noticed this entry in the console log:
Quitting XDarwin...
dyld: xterm dead lock (dyld operation attempted in a thread already doing a dyld
operation)
Oct 27 17:52:07 wiblesIbook crashdump: Unable to determine CPSProcessSerNum pid:
2211 name: xterm
Oct 27 17:52:07 wiblesIbook crashdump: Started writing crash report to:
/Users/tomw/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/xterm.crash.log
Oct 27 17:52:07 wiblesIbook crashdump: Finished writing crash report to:
/Users/tomw/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/xterm.crash.log
a little while later i noticed the system was getting sluggish, and top showed
a tcsh proc chewing up ~50%cpu. ps revealed:
tomw 2210 29.1 0.1 22648 648 ?? R Sat10AM 122:29.13 -bin/tcsh -i
-c xterm -sb -name x11
i'd heard the zombie problem had been solved, but i didn't think zombies chewed
cycles anyways;-) wtf???
