Hi all,
I must say that Panther is a very nice improvement in usability :-)
Apple X11 v1.0 seems generally fast and stable :-) I tested
many apps running on a Linux server, and everything works exactly
as expected with the exception of Synplicity synplify_pro, which
displays it's main window and then causes Xquartz to rapidly consume
all memory. The resulting swap storm doesn't stop even after kill -9
of everything to do with X11 or even after logging out... both of which
are hard to do, to say the least with all that swapping going on.
This is a 700MHz G3 iBook with 384M ram, upgraded from 10.2.6.
I made sure I enabled X11 in the 10.3 install, which went smoothly.
I've never had memory usage problems with synplify_pro before
upgrading, or any other XWindow display issues with Apple X11
for that matter.
Anything I can look at for the Apple developers so we can find what
is causing this? Just to clarify, this is a new problem.
Cheers, and thanks for providing X11,
J.
