For the battery problem, get an accurate determination of your battery
life by downloading and running X-Charge

able to see just how long your battery is running.
"Seems to" could be a placebo effect -- some people were reporting that
their computers "seemed to" be running faster after installing 10.2.8,
but that's probably the placebo effect in action. Then again, some
people "seemed to" get shorter battery life after installing 10.2.8, but
then they ran X-Charge and found that they actually _were_ getting
shorter battery life (cf.
